Gradual weather changes

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The high pressure area I’ve talked much about remains the dominating feature in our weather and our forecast this week.

The high pressure area, also sometimes referred to as a ridge, heat dome, or just high, is slowly migrating westward. This has already pushed the monsoon moisture plume well to the west, into western New Mexico and eastern Arizona.

What this means for us on the South Plains and the region is more sunshine, continued hot afternoons, and a lack of rain. For now.

By late week, as the center of the high moves to the west of us, we will see a dip in temperatures and a return of storm and rain chances.

Since the ridge is moving slowly, the day to day change will be slight…
