LUBBOCK, Texas- Thousands of families packed the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on Wednesday for the City-Wide Back-2-School Bash, a free event aimed at easing the burden of back-to-school expenses.

More than 5,000 students received clear backpacks filled with school supplies, handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. The event also featured free haircuts, a community resource fair and booths where families could learn about local services supporting student success.
Parents like Jessica Murphy say the help couldn’t have come at a better time.
“I got three kids that are all depending on me,” Murphy said. “Life’s changed, times have changed. This just helps a little, and that makes all the difference.”…
