LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – An Asian food restaurant is back open after it was temporarily shut down by Lubbock health inspectors following its latest health inspection.
That’s just one of our three low performers with dozens of violations. But, there’s also some good news in this week’s edition of Food for Thought.
I Love Pho at 405 Slide had 43 violations.
- Raw chicken was above the safe cold temperature 41 degrees.
- The chlorine sanitizer in the dishwasher was not strong enough.
- An employee used their personal cell phone while wearing gloves.
- A chemical spray bottle did not have a label.
- Water was turned off at the hand sink.
- A hand sink was blocked by a mop bucket and containers. A plastic bag was over the faucet.
- There was no soap at the hand sinks.
- Multiple items did not have a date mark, including: shrimp, pork, beef, chicken, tofu, vegetables and cream cheese.
- Bread was stored in a plastic grocery bag.
- Medications were stored above the prep station.
- Rodent bait was open and exposed under the ware wash station.
- Black tape was used to repair a faucet on the three-compartment sink.
- Clear tape was used to repair a leak in the drain line.
- The sprayer at the ware wash station was not plumbed correctly.
- The person in charge was unable to demonstrate knowledge of foodborne disease prevention.

- Cardboard used underneath legs of cooking equipment.
- Plastic film on interior of door to reach in cooler, torn and peeling.
- Accumulation of food residue and debris on interior of reach in cooler.
- Tape used to hold down shelf protector on dry storage rack above prep line.
- Various shelves made of bare wood in kitchen.
- Accumulation of grease, food debris and residue on floor underneath cooking equipment.
- Rodent feces found along wall under ware wash station.
- Gap between door and threshold at rear exit door near restrooms.
- Wet wiping cloth, not in current use, stored on rack over 3-compartment sink.
- Various prepared and raw foods stored in walk in cooler without lids.
- Various commercially packaged foods containers reused for sauce and broth storage.
- Employee personal food stored above food service lettuce in walk in cooler.
- Employee personal cell phone and lidded drink stored on prep table.
