LUBBOCK, Texas — A high school senior at Coronado High School, Zane Valdez, decided to paint his senior parking spot in honor of his late best friend, Andres Madrid, who Valdez always called ‘Andrew.’ Valdez had his parking spot painted, by local artist Lukky Rodriguez, with angel wings, his name, and the day Madrid died.

“You know he would have been a senior with us this year and he would have been graduating with us, and just wanted a piece of him or just a memory of him to stick with me through senior high school,” Valdez said.
Valdez explained how Madrid was like a brother to him.
“When I was five in pre-K or first grade. This is when I first met Andrew, and we just met him. I don’t know how we became friends specifically, but I do remember,” Valdez said. “I asked him to play on the playground the next day and it just went from there. That’s when our friendship started.”…
