LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Parks and Recreation announced that they will taking part in National Night Out on August 5. It is designed to create greater relationships with local law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve.
The event will be held at Rodgers Park, located at 3200 Bates Street, and will begin at 6 p.m. Thanks to partners United Supermarkets and Wellpoint, there will be live performances, free food and a movie. Families with students can also receive a free backpack filled with school supplies.

In a Facebook post, Parks and Recreation encouraged all members of the community to take part in the festivities. “Mark your calendar and join us for this FREE evening of fun, connection and community celebration!,” the post read.
There will also be other opportunities around Lubbock to recognize the occasion, as the Patterson Branch Library announced plans to hold a celebration earlier in the day. Regardless of the location, National Night Out promises to be fun for the whole community and will help build connections amongst the people who live there…
