Heat continues through the weekend ahead of Monday cold front

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The heat will continue into the weekend but will decrease before the weekend ends. Saturday temperatures will again climb to the century mark or higher for most of the South Plains. The hottest temps are likely along the Caprock once again and may soar to 101-104 degrees.

Another issue for Saturday will be the potential for a few isolated severe storms in the northwest communities. The potential is low, and coverage will be sparse, if any at all. The primary threat would be strong winds.

Rain chances will increase from late Sunday into Monday as a cold front brings some relief from the heat and a chance of showers and storms for at least a couple of days.

Thanks to the cold front the afternoon temperatures should remain in the mid-90s Sunday and drop to the low 90s by Monday and Tuesday…
