Lubbock City Council greenlights Game Changers project pending private fundraising milestones

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock City Council discussed a proposal for a $50 million state-of-the-art, world-class championship facility during its regular meeting Tuesday, ultimately approving an agreement with added stipulations.

The multi-sport event center, proposed for 20 acres of city-owned property within Bill McAllister Park, is part of the Game Changers project and would be funded entirely through private philanthropy and business partnerships.

Under the agreement, Lubbock Game Changers has two years to secure at least 85 percent of the project’s fundraising goal.
