LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock mother and her 6-year-old daughter are working to bring a father home after his sudden death hundreds of miles away.

Marshall Jones, 26, was driving from his home in Tennessee to visit his daughter, Tinsley, and her mother, Katilyn Miller, in Lubbock. On Aug. 5, police in St. Louis found Jones dead at a gas station during what was supposed to be a quick stop on his trip.

“I just felt like I was living a dream,” Miller said. “I didn’t think it was real until I heard it from the police.”
