LUBBOCK, Texas — Therron Hastings, Jr., 18, was captured outside Estacado High School with a gun on Monday morning.
‘Entirely unacceptable’: Texas prison warden arrested in Lubbock, charged with theft
Lubbock ISD said the incident happened a bit after 8:00 a.m. after Hastings was apprehended in the parking lot by Lubbock ISD Police with a firearm. According to court documents received by EverythingLubbock, the responding Lubbock ISD Police officer indicated that Hastings brandished the weapon and intentionally pointed it at an Estacado student.
The following is part of a message sent to families of Estacado High School:
Campus police were made aware today that a suspect had a weapon on the Estacado HS parking lot before the start of school. The suspect and weapon are in custody by the Lubbock ISD Police Department. All students and staff are safe. Lubbock ISD has a zero-tolerance policy for any type of weapon on school grounds. This is an ongoing investigation by our Lubbock ISD Police Department. Additional officers will be present at the campus throughout the remainder of the day. The school day will proceed with the regular bell schedule.
