LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department on Monday said the officer involved in a July 28 shooting was cleared by internal investigation and a review by the District Attorney’s Office and has since returned to duty.

EverythingLubbock.com previously reported LPD responded to the 2300 block of 58th Street at 12:47 a.m. for reports of a suicidal subject, later identified as Eric Salazar, 49. When officers arrived, Salazar was found armed with a large butcher knife. Salazar’s wife told officers a hearing-impaired juvenile was in the house with Salazar. The juvenile was not hurt. She gave officers access to enter the house through the garage.
While officers were in the garage, Salazar came to the doorway armed with the knife. Officers used less-lethal projectiles, but Salazar continued moving forward with the knife. At 12:55 a.m., another officer fired a gun, and Salazar ran into the home…
