LUBBOCK, Texas — Yonna Mitchell, 34, was arrested and accused of shooting a man in the back of the head at the Executive Inn, according to court documents obtained on Tuesday.

Court documents said on August 20, officers responded to the 4400 block of Avenue Q for a report of a man being shot in the head. Officers found the victim sitting near the office with a bloody towel held to the back of his head. Court records said the victim told officers that Mitchell shot him
Montford Unit inmate charged with capital murder of cellmate
Court records said witness statements corroborated the victim’s story. The victim was taken to the hospital, and a bullet was removed from his head, court documents stated. The Lubbock Police Department said the victim had non-life-threatening injuries. According to a probable cause affidavit, Mitchell ran from the scene but was found nearby in the 4100 block of Avenue R.
