20 years after Katrina, New Orleans survivor finds a home in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas — Saturday marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, displacing thousands and changing how the nation responds to major storms.

Among the evacuees was chef Marc Stribling, who boarded one of the first helicopters out of the city and ended up in Lubbock. At just 24 years old, he had to rebuild his life from scratch.

Stribling rarely talks about Katrina, but he says it shaped everything about where he is today…
