Lubbock Deputy Ambushed by Gunfire, Three Suspects in Custody

A late-night ambush in Central Lubbock left a sheriff’s deputy narrowly escaping death after his unmarked vehicle was riddled with bullets during a search for a wanted felon. The frightening incident unfolded around 10 p.m. Wednesday near 34th Street and Salem Avenue.

Deputy Ambushed

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was patrolling the area in search of a wanted suspect when gunfire erupted. Multiple rounds struck his vehicle, disabling it and forcing him to stop. Miraculously, the deputy was not injured and managed to escape unharmed.

Quick Response and Arrests

Backup units from the Lubbock Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety rushed to the scene within minutes. Their swift response led to the detention of four people believed to be connected to the shooting. Authorities also recovered four firearms during the arrests.

One of those detained was later released, but three remain jailed at the Lubbock County Detention Center, facing numerous charges.
