Fermi America appoints Trent Sisemore as community lead

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Fermi America, the largest private grid designed to power the demands of artificial intelligence, in partnership with the Texas Tech University system, has named former Amarillo Mayor Trent Sisemore as Fermi’s Community Lead.

Fermi America was co-founded by former Texas Governor and U.S. Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, and the co-founder and co-managing Partner of Quantum Energy Partners, Toby Neugebauer. Officials stated that Fermi plans to deliver up to 11 gigawatts of highly redundant power and 15 million square feet of artificial intelligence capacity by the end of 2026, and for every year for a decade. The private grid campus spans 5,236 acres on sovereign Texas Tech University System land, and Nuclear construction is slated to begin in 2027 with the first reactor online by 2032.

According to officials from Fermi America, Sisemore will serve as the company’s boots on the ground liaison to ensure the community’s voice is heard at the highest levels of the company while engaging in strategic partnerships that show Fermi’s commitment to stewarding the area as good neighbors.

Officials stated that Sisemore is known for his governance of Amarillo for previously serving as Amarillo Mayor and Amarillo city commissioner.
