Lubbock Texas Weather: Thunderstorms Sweep Across South Plains Friday Night with Cooler Temps

Lubbock, Texas – A cold front that pushed through the South Plains Thursday night is setting up a stormy Friday evening across the region, with showers and thunderstorms likely to roll in from eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will stay cooler than earlier this week, but wet weather may cause travel delays and localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, storms are expected to develop late Friday and continue overnight, bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Lows will fall into the upper 60s, including 67 degrees in Lubbock and 66 in Plainview.
