Goin’ Band Centennial exhibit blends history, heritage

As alumni entered the room studying old photos and discussing fond memories, black and red uniforms donning the Double T stood at attention representing the Goin’ Band’s tradition and history in its evolution over time.

Hosted on Saturday by University Archives in the Southwest Collection building, a one-time come-and-go event allowed alumni to examine Goin’ Band memorabilia. Most of the items displayed were uniforms and gear donated by former students and faculty.

Tracy Ray, an alumna and twirler who performed in the band from 1979 to 1982, donated her and her father’s uniforms to the exhibit to be shown and said seeing her old outfit reminded her of when she first attended a football game and was unable to perform with the Goin’ Band…
