New Deal family faces second tragic accident in a year, coping with loss

NEW DEAL, Texas — On Tuesday, August 26, Sara Otero-Delgado was driving her three children to school in New Deal, Texas, when they were involved in a serious accident that pushed her car to the side of the road, injuring her and her children in the process.

“Next thing I know, we’re hit and pushed over to the side. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk, I was spitting out blood,” Delgado said. “My kids are screaming, and I can’t move my legs. My legs were smashed together.”

Delgado spoke to EverythingLubbock.com about the crash, which resulted in serious injuries. She explained she suffered a broken right hip, a shattered pelvis and a lacerated liver. The impact of the collision also broke her oldest child’s arm, and two of her children are still in wheelchairs as they recover…
