Lubbock PD arrests suspect linked to gunfire at brawl with over 100 people

LUBBOCK, Texas–Marquis Diaz, 24, was arrested on Friday for charges of Deadly Conduct by Discharging a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, stemming from his involvement in a July altercation that involved nearly 100 people and resulted in five injuries.

LPD officials reported that police were called to the scene at approximately 3:22 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, due to a fight involving around 100 people in the 2900 block of Parkway Drive at what court records describe as an “after spot.”

Investigators reviewed video footage from a store near the location as well as social media and body camera footage, which captured two suspects near the northeast corner of a nearby building. They ran west, turned and fired their handguns in that direction before fleeing the scene. Video also showed another suspect who ran east on the south side of the building, then north along the west side of the building, then back east toward a grey Ford Mustang that was parked on the north side of the building.
