LCSO: Suspect shot, injured after aiming handgun at Lubbock deputies

LUBBOCK, Texas — A suspect had life-threatening injuries after being shot by a deputy on Friday morning near the 9100 block of Highway 87, according to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened just after 10:50 a.m. LCSO said deputies were called to the area for a person with a gun. Authorities found the suspect, who then aimed a handgun at deputies, LCSO said. A deputy shot the suspect, and they rendered aid until EMS arrived. LCSO said the suspect was taken to University Medical Center.

One additional person was also evaluated for injuries on scene. LCSO said the Metro Special Crimes Unit was asked to investigate. The deputy who shot the suspect was placed on leave, per policy.

LCSO said there is no threat to the public. LCSO also said it will not be releasing the name of the suspect at this time…
