SPAG to host Regional Aerospace Planning kickoff meeting

LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – The South Plains Association of Governments (SPAG) will host a kickoff meeting of their Regional Aerospace Planning Project on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.. Funded by the Texas Space Commission through the Space Exploration and Aeronautics Research Fund (SEARF), this initiative will evaluate potential alternative launch and landing sites throughout the South Plains Region, as well as opportunities for research, economic development and manufacturing related to the Aerospace industry. The meeting on Friday will be held at SPAG and will bring together regional stakeholders, local government officials, and community members to discuss the future direction of this important opportunity.

SPAG has engaged Kimley-Horn, a nationally recognized planning and design consulting firm, to assist in outlining strategies for advancing aerospace and aeronautics research opportunities across the South Plains.
