Laura Beth Fossett announces candidacy for 137th district judge

LUBBOCK, Texas — Laura Beth Fossett held a campaign announcement on Monday, September 22, in front of the Lubbock County Courthouse.

Laura Beth Fossett was born and raised in Daingerfield, Texas. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Abilene Christian University before completing both her Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration at Texas Tech University in 2011. Later that year, she was admitted to the Texas Bar and began her legal career.

In 2012, she joined the Lubbock Criminal District Attorney’s Office, where she had previouslyinterned, she began as a misdemeanor prosecutor in County Court Two, later advancing to the 137th District Court, where she became Chief Prosecutor in 2015.

In 2020, she was promoted to Felony Trial Chief, overseeing all felony prosecutors in LubbockCounty’s three District Courts and mentoring the next generation of attorneys. Her leadership and commitment to justice earned her recognition as one of Lubbock’s “Top 20 Under 40,” anomination for Young Lawyer of the Year, and multiple awards from the Crime Victim Coalition of West Texas.
