Lubbock Habitat for Humanity begins their annual Blitz Build

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Habitat for Humanity kicked off their annual Blitz Build on Saturday. The event runs for seven days, as the non-profit seeks to finish three homes in their East Lubbock neighborhood.

Christy Reeves, Executive Director of Lubbock Habitat for Humanity, spoke about the impact the event has in their mission to provide affordable housing to those in need. “Every act of support creates lasting change right here in Lubbock. Together, we’re building safe, affordable homes for families, revitalizing neighborhoods, and strengthening our local economy. None of this would be possible without the generosity and commitment of this incredible community,” said Reeves.

The event will continue every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until September 27, with volunteers doing the final tasks needed to complete the new homes. These tasks include painting and installing fixtures. Each day will have a special sports themed dress-up opportunity and meals for volunteers provided by local churches, businesses and donors.
