Police address rumors after deadly Lubbock Airbnb shooting

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock police are working to dispel rumors surrounding a deadly shooting at a southwest Lubbock Airbnb that left one person dead, and two others injured early Sunday morning.

Investigators said the initial call to the short-term rental property near 76th Street and Chicago Avenue was for a loud party. Officers were tied up on other emergencies at the time, and the complaint was still waiting to be dispatched when gunfire erupted less than an hour later.

“It’s not as if we responded to this loud party call and didn’t take any action,” said Lt. Brady Cross with LPD. “When the call of shots fired came in, that call was dispatched immediately and officers were on scene in minutes.”
