Caprock Chronicles: West Texas, Panhandle train depots shaped local identity

At 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 10, 2017, demolition of the Snyder depot began.

Paula Hatfield, vice chairwoman of the Scurry County Historical Commission, emotionally watched and documented the demolition that took eight days to complete. Hatfield said, “As they began to dismantle it and everything, it was sort of like tearing down an engine to your car or something. To look and see how all of those pieces put together and made that building, it was phenomenal.”
