LUBBOCK, Texas — After years of crime in the headlines, the Executive Inn, located at 4401 Avenue Q, said it was shutting its doors for good starting on Tuesday. EverythingLubbock.com looked back at some of the most recent incidents leading up to the motel’s closing.

Data from the Lubbock Police Department reflected 618 calls for service to the Executive Inn from September 1, 2024, to October 5, 2025. In that time, 112 of those calls were for a disturbance. There were 82 subject stops, 65 check subjects and 46 domestic disturbance calls. Data showed 15 calls for shots fired. Other calls to the motel included robbery, auto theft and forgery, among many more.

LubbockLights.com previously reported from May 1, 2024, to August 22, 2025, there were 731 police calls over 478 days, almost 47 calls per month. In the LubbockLights report, Lubbock Police Chief Seth Herman said the goal was for the motel to comply with necessary changes to help bring crime down. The Lubbock Police Department most recently said it was supportive of the motel’s decision to close and appreciated the concern for public safety.
Police chase ends in arrest of Lubbock man near Brownfield
Earlier in 2025, police found multiple guns and about 150 grams of meth after an officer heard shots fired at the Executive Inn. Court records said two people were arrested. Then in May, court documents said a man was arrested after he was accused of sexually assaulting a child at the motel. July saw a shooting that left a man hospitalized with serious injuries. More recent headlines at the Executive Inn included a woman who was arrested and accused of shooting a man in the head in late August. The next day, two people were hurt after another shooting on August 21. Back in 2024, three men were indicted in connection with the death of Jose Gonzalez, 33, who was shot and killed in the motel parking lot. These were just some incidents that made headlines, with many other reports being made to police.
Signs taped to the motel room doors on Sunday said the Executive Inn tenants had to vacate their units by 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. It attributed the voluntary shutdown to recent overdoses, shootings and robberies…
