Lubbock mother slain in home invasion; Investigators believe killer can still be identified

LUBBOCK, Texas — More than three decades after Barbara Jean Hinojosa was brutally killed in her East Lubbock home, investigators believe her killer could still be identified.

The Lubbock Police Department previously said the 32-year-old was killed sometime between 11:00 pm. on Friday, October 11, and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 1991. Officers responded to the 200 block of East 37th Street after Hinojosa’s husband arrived back at home in the morning of October 12. He called police and reported someone possibly broke into the home, and his wife was laying deceased on the bed.
