2025 Texas South Plains Honor Flight begins with National Air & Space Museum visit

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KCBD) – The 2025 Texas South Plains Honor Flight embarks on three days in the nation’s capital with one stop at the Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air & Space Museum.

However, the appreciation to our 81 veterans began at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport as the flight processed through a joint honor guard of Lubbock Police Department, Department of Public Safety, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office and Lubbock Fire Rescue.

On board the flight to Washington, D.C. the veterans received letters from appreciative citizens and family members. The “mail call,” is an often unexpected part of the trip for veterans who experienced the moral-boosting aspect of military life…
