The charges against Maxfield, 41, were not brought against him in the order the allegations happened. Maxfield’s first arrest involved an accusation of sexual contact with a student that occurred in 2019. The day after the news broke about his initial charges, Maxfield was accused of another count of sexual assault of a child in connection with a 2006 incident.

Here is a timeline of the charges against Maxfield as of October 13.
2006:
The earliest known allegation against Maxfield dated back to 2006, when Maxfield was a 21-year-old youth pastor in Amherst. This was before Maxfield’s employment with the Lubbock ISD began in 2007. Court records said the victim, who was 15 years old when this happened, reported more than 20 instances of sexual intercourse with Maxfield when she was below the age of consent. Maxfield was charged with sexual assault of a child in connection with this allegation. This was the second round of charges to hit Maxfield’s roster after his initial arrest in August.

2014:
The latest round of charges against Maxfield were connected to a 2014 incident. Court records said the victim reported the incident to police after Maxfield’s initial arrest in August. These charges became public knowledge in early October. According to court records, the victim told police Maxfield touched her inappropriately during the 2014 school year, when Maxfield was her teacher. On October 8, Maxfield was indicted for three counts of indecency with a child with sexual contact in connection with this incident.
2019:
The initial charges that landed Maxfield behind bars in August were tied to “numerous” incidents in 2019, court records stated. Court documents stated Maxfield “engaged in sexual intercourse on numerous occasions while [the victim] was under the age of consent.” Court documents detailed sexual contact that occurred in Maxfield’s classroom and on school grounds. Court documents also said Maxfield was accused of exchanging “numerous” nude images with the underage victim on his phone. This was reported to the Lubbock Police Department at the end of April of 2024, according to court records. Maxfield was charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child in connection with these allegations.

Lubbock ISD said the district immediately placed Maxfield on leave. Maxfield resigned in June of 2024.
