LUBBOCK, Texas — The government shutdown has reached 27 days, and if lawmakers have not reached a deal by November 1, SNAP benefits will be delayed, according to CEO of South Plains Food Bank Dina Jeffries.
Jeffries appealed to the Governor of Texas with the hope that the state could step in and fund food.

“We have decreased federal funding We have food trucks that were promised to us that have been canceled at the USDA level,” Jeffries said. “We are going to see more people in our line which our shelves are already stretched thin.”
