LUBBOCK, Texas — Whether you’re wondering if your dog can eat turkey or if cranberries are bad, we at EverythingLubbock.com made a list of what to look out for when the holiday leftover food lands in their bowl.
- Turkey – Give the meat free of any seasonings. Don’t give them the skin or bones. The bones can do damage to their teeth, gum and small pieces can get stuck in their throat.
 - Green Beans – Green vegetables like broccoli and spinach are also safe for dogs but may cause them to be gassy. Just make sure that they are free of strong seasoning and onions.
 - Cranberries – Cranberries are popular in holiday dishes and you can share them with your dog.
 - White Potatoes – Mashed potatoes are safe even with a little bit of butter. Although potatoes skins are not safe for consumption so it would be best to peel them first for them.
 - Sweet Potatoes – Are safe to eat, as long there is not marshmallows and sugar.
 - Pumpkin – You want to avoid giving him canned pumpkin pie mix, which contains sugar and spices they can’t have.

Please note that serving sizes do vary between each dog. It is also good to be mindful of how your furry friend reacts after eating some holiday foods. Here are some things to look out for discoloration in stool, vomit and drinking a large amount of water.
It could also be best to call your local veterinarian or animal clinic with any questions about what can be consumed or can not, before they close before the holidays…
