Two people hospitalized after South Lubbock crash identified

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department has identified the two people injured in a South Lubbock crash early Monday morning.

According to LPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, a semi-truck crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck at the 7000 block of Southeast Drive and Southeast Loop 289. Once officers arrived at the scene, they found the drivers of both vehicles with serious injuries.

Police chase ends in Central Lubbock crash, driver in custody

The driver of the semi-truck was later identified as 64-year-old David Chavera, and the pickup truck’s driver was identified as 53-year-old Isabel Torres. Chavera was transported to Covenant Medical Center, while Torres was taken to UMC for treatment.
