Police name victim struck by vehicle after East Lubbock crash

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department released an update on Monday morning about a crash that resulted in serious injuries on Saturday near East 10th Street and MLK Jr. Boulevard.

Police were called to the crash at 8:21 p.m. According to LPD, a black SUV was making a left turn onto 10th Street, when it crashed with a white jeep. The occupants of both vehicles got out to exchange information. LPD Irvin Cortes, 18, a passenger in the black SUV, was standing in the road behind the Jeep when he was struck by a Yukon driven by Roderick Taylor, 29,

Fake Uber driver accused of kidnapping women on Broadway St. in Lubbock

LPD said Cortes was seriously hurt and taken to University Medical Center by EMS. Some other passengers in the vehicles had minor and moderate injuries. They were taken to Covenant Medical Center.
