Lubbock native crowned Ms. Wheelchair Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock native has received statewide recognition after she was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Texas.

Elisha Aguirre was given her crown and sash during a ceremony on Saturday. The Ms. Wheelchair America pageant started in 1972 as a way to promote the achievements and needs of mobility-impaired people.

The Ms. Wheelchair America and Ms. Wheelchair Texas pageants select the most accomplished and articulate spokeswoman to represent the millions of Americans who face disabilities. Aguirre said she wants to raise awareness for home healthcare and medical insurance.
