DALLAS, TEXAS — A fresh cold front will sweep through Texas early Sunday morning, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures, gusty winds, and the first widespread freeze of the month by Monday morning. Meteorologists say the front will move in by sunrise, quickly replacing mild air with much colder and drier conditions.

Cold Front Arrives Early Sunday Morning

The latest forecast shows the front pushing through North and Central Texas just before dawn Sunday. Ahead of the system, temperatures will linger in the upper 40s to low 50s, but strong northwest winds of 25 to 30 mph will follow behind the front, causing a rapid temperature drop throughout the day.

By mid-morning, most of the region—including Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene, and Lubbock—will see temperatures in the low 40s, though wind chills will make it feel more like the mid-30s. Clouds are expected to clear by late afternoon, allowing sunshine to return, but highs will remain well below seasonal norms.

The National Weather Service reports that overnight lows will dip into the mid-20s to low 30s across much of North and Central Texas by early Monday, marking a widespread freeze across the region. Areas farther south, including Houston and Austin, will likely drop into the mid to upper 30s, with patchy frost possible in suburban and rural areas.
