LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Animal Services (LAS) announced on Friday that they have observed an increased rate of upper respiratory symptoms in dogs, both in the community and at the shelter.
LAS is reminding the public that it is important to keep your animals vaccinated to ensure the safety of pets and avoid spreading sicknesses to other animals and pets. Important vaccines for dogs to have is distemper/parvo vaccines, as well as Bordetella, to protect against various upper respiratory infections that dogs can contract.

According to LAS, if you are concerned about your dog potentially having one of these viruses, to observe them for the following symptoms:
- Yellow/green ocular discharge
- Yellow/green nasal discharge
- Excessive coughing
- Red/irritated eyes
- Lethargy
- Neurological symptoms
- Seizures
