Tonight: Mostly clear. Low of 41°. Winds SW→N 8-12 MPH.Tomorrow: Clear. High of 68°. Winds NE→ESE 12-18 MPH.
TONIGHT:
A mild night is in store for eastern New Mexico and western Texas tonight. Low temperatures this time of year typically bottom out in the mid 20s to low 30s. We will only cool into the mid 30s to mid 40s around the region by sunrise on Friday. We will keep a clear to mostly clear sky around the region, with winds out of the southwest around 8-12 MPH. Around sunrise, we will see winds shift to the north as a weak cold front begins to push into the region.

FRIDAY:
Although not as warm as our Thursday, temperatures will remain above average across the KLBK forecast area. Even after a morning cold front, highs will still remain 10-15 degrees above average. We will warm into the low 60s to low 70s during the afternoon hours, with the warmest temperatures remaining over southern areas. Winds will shift from the northeast to the east-southeast throughout the day. Sustained speeds of 12-18 MPH are expected. Friday night into Saturday morning will be roughly 8-12 degrees cooler than the night before, with lows settling into the mid 20s to mid 30s by sunrise on Saturday.

SHORT TERM FORECAST:
Temperatures will rebound into the 60s and 70s for highs on Saturday. A mostly clear sky is expected around the region, with winds out of the southwest increasing in speed. Sustained speeds of 15-20 MPH will be occasionally accompanied by gusts as high as 35-45 MPH. A stronger cold front will move in during the late afternoon hours on Sunday! This will shift winds to the northeast. Much colder air will race in Saturday night through Sunday morning. Lows will bottom out in the low 20s to low 30s by sunrise on Sunday. Clouds will increase around the region, resulting in a mostly cloudy sky on Sunday. High temperatures will PLUMMET into the 40s to low 50s around the region. Some northeastern areas may not escape the 30s! This 20-30 degree drop in temperatures will be short lived, so enjoy the cooler temperatures while they last. Winds will shift from the northeast to the south throughout the day, sustained at 10-15 MPH. Clouds will remain Sunday night through Monday morning, with lows cooling back into the 20s and 30s.

EXTENDED FORECAST:
As we head into the work week next week, high temperatures will quickly warm back above average! Highs will peak in the 60s on Monday, followed by the upper 60s to low 80s Tuesday through Thursday! Models are as clear as mud when it comes to the middle to end of next week. A low confidence remains for Thursday’s forecast. Otherwise, morning lows will also remain above average, only cooling into the 30s and 40s. After a mostly cloudy Monday, more sunshine will return for the rest of the week. Winds look to become a bit breezier Wednesday and Thursday.
