UPDATE: Prank sign leads to law enforcement response

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – We have an update to the report we brought you Sunday night. Authorities were looking into a report of a kidnapping from a truck stop in north Lubbock Saturday. Monday morning we learned this turned out to be a prank.

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office reports someone called 911 around 5 p.m. Saturday. The caller said a woman was holding a sign that read “Help me” in the window of a pickup.

Multiple agencies responded, including the DPS helicopter, searching for the pickup. It was found about 20 minutes later on North County Road 1500. Deputies confirmed everyone was safe…
