Still warm on Saturday, much colder Sunday

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – For the sixth time this December, a new record maximum temperature was recorded by the Lubbock National Weather service.

Lubbock climbed to 81 degrees on Friday, surpassing the previous record of 80 degrees, which occurred in 2021.

Another record will be possible on Saturday, but after tomorrow, the remainder of 2025 will return to below to near normal temperatures.

Afternoon highs near 80 degrees or above on Saturday for most of the South Plains, but on Sunday, colder air will move into the area by early afternoon followed by much colder temperatures Sunday night into Monday.

There is a slight chance of snow, mainly southwest South Plains and possibly New Mexico late Sunday thru Monday night…
