In our corner of West Texas, including Lubbock, history by most standards is recent – “current events” European and Greek and Roman historians might say.
Still, the history of our city and region extends a few centuries into the past, and if we consider the early arrival of the first humans here, its archaeological past reaches back nearly 12,000 years.
Today, by walking through a plowed field or a sand hill blowout most anyone might find an arrowhead or hide scraper or other evidence of the ancient societies and cultures…
