Tahoka teen dead after ATV crash in Kent County

KENT COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has confirmed that one person, a 15-year-old male from Tahoka, Texas, was pronounced dead on Saturday, January 3, in a crash on County Road 438.

According to a statement from DPS, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Polaris Ranger Crew, ATV, was being driven by a 14-year-old female from New Home, Texas with two passengers, a 7-year-old and a 15-year-old male.

According to DPS, they were driving down CR 438, approaching a curve in the roadway. The driver was driving too fast for the roadway conditions and overturned the ATV. The front passenger of the vehicle was ejected and pinned underneath the ATV. The 15-year-old male was transported to Fisher County Hospital and pronounced dead at 2:43 p.m.
