Sobriety is worth celebrating, and one Lubbock baker is using her talent and creativity to help her clients do just that. Rebecca Tijerina Ortiz of Mrs. T’s Cakery, LLC., is a popular local baker who specializes in everything from intricate treat boxes for special occasions to magazine-worthy multi-tier cakes for weddings and quinceañeras.
Creating Custom Baked Goods to Mark Sobriety Milestone
Mrs. T’s Cakery is no stranger to special requests, making cakes and other goodies that are as beautiful to look at as they are delicious to eat. However, it was her sobriety cakes that touched my heart. They are so cool, and sobriety is so worthy of celebration! Check out this gorgeous cake:
The dice look SO good! And congratulations to the recipient of the cake, whether you’ve been sober 7 years, 7 months, or 7 days, I am so very proud of you, and you deserve the recognition!
Why Sugar Is A Great Way To Celebrate Sobriety
Many folks going sober, especially from alcohol but also stimulants, report intense sugar cravings. With an alcohol addiction, it makes sense, as you were consuming tons of liquid calories that your body converted into sugar. Interestingly, people who go sober from stimulants also report intense sweet cravings, possibly because a sweet treat gives you a little dopamine burst.
And while no one in their right mind would tell you to substitute one addiction for another (in this case, a food addiction), it is entirely OK to indulge your sweet craving while you are getting sober, and occasionally as you continue and celebrate your journey. Nobody destroys their life over a slice of cake after all.
Helping Clients Celebrate Recovery Through Innovative Designs
Check out this super cool, creative (and incredibly delicious-looking) burn cake! When the recipient got the cake, they were able to burn off the first message to reveal “6 Years” underneath. A major accomplishment!…
