Man detained for two Lubbock shootings, one hospitalized

LUBBOCK, Texas— The Lubbock Police Department has confirmed that one person is in custody related to two shootings in Central Lubbock, with one individual being seriously injured.

According to a press release obtained on Friday, police were called to the 600 block of Avenue Q at 1:10 a.m. on January 6 in response to reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of a shooting but did not locate any victims at the scene.

When police were later called to the 4800 block of Avenue Q at 11:26 p.m. that day, there was another report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located Joe Reyes, 37, with multiple gunshot wounds, and he had to be transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Authorities determined through their initial investigation that Drukerick Dickson was the sole suspect, with evidence connecting him to both shootings.
