LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A strong cold front moved south across the South Plains this afternoon. The frontal passage brought gusts of 35 to 40 mph, brief blowing dust, and a drop of 20 degrees in just an hour. Lubbock dropped from the high for the day of 61° around 3 PM to 41° by 6 PM.
The stage is set for a very cold night and a quite cool, even chilly, Saturday.
The low pressure area which drove the cold front through West Texas is now moving eastward and away from the area. The storm system remained just far enough north to keep the KCBD/FOX34 viewing area.
