LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Saturday marked the sixth anniversary of a crash that killed two first responders and prompted safety improvements across the nation.
Officer Nicholas Reyna and Fire Lieutenant Eric Hill died Jan. 11, 2020, when they were struck by a passing vehicle while responding to a crash along the north interstate. The morning was cold and icy.
Firefighter Matt Dawson was severely injured in the crash but recovered. Dawson died in late 2023.
