Prosecutors seek to revoke man’s probation in deadly Lubbock shooting

A 35-year-old Littlefield man placed on probation less than a year ago after admitting to recklessly shooting and killing his childhood friend during a night of drinking faces up to 10 years in prison after prosecutors allege he violated conditions of his community supervision meant to keep him away from alcohol.

Julio Gutierrez has been without bond in the Lubbock County Detention Center since his Jan. 12 arrest, five days after prosecutors filed a motion to revoke his probation.

He is set to appear before District Judge John McClendon on Wednesday for a probation revocation hearing after which he could face up to 10 years in prison. He is represented by Lubbock attorney Luke Jordan…
