Hale, Lubbock and Lamb ran hot in 2025 as Texas saw extremes

Texas closed out 2025 as its 4th warmest year on record, a stat that only begins to tell the story of a year defined by country-leading tornado activity, flooding disaster and wide-ranging weather extremes nationwide.

In Hale County, the average temperature for 2025 was 61.0 degrees, which was 2.8 degrees above average for the year. This ranked the year as the 4th warmest in the recorded history of the county. The average high temperature was 75.1 degrees, which was 2.5 degrees above average.

Lubbock County was slightly warmer, with an average temperature of 62.9 degrees, or 3.6 degrees above average. That ranked as the third warmest year on record for the county.
