There are still piles of nasty, stubborn snow around the Hub City, serving as a chilly reminder of the winter storm we all just muscled through. Drive around Lubbock long enough, and you’ll still see the icy leftovers stacked in parking lots, pushed into corners, and melting into questionable slush. It naturally brings up the big question: How do you feel about the snow-removal efforts from theCity of Lubbock?
From the reactions I gathered across social media, a solid chunk of folks weren’t overly impressed — especially in the north and east parts of town. Those comments ranged from mild annoyance to full-on spicy takes about roads being left untouched for too long. But as always with Lubbock storms, context matters.
Snow removal here is its own special beast. We simply don’t deal with winter weather often enough to justify owning a fleet of top-tier snowplows like cities up north. Lubbock can’t keep dozens of machines, drivers, and mechanics on standby year-round for something we might only need a week or two at most. Even maintaining the limited equipment we do have probably takes more prep time than most of us realize…
