The Lubbock Police Department (LPD) has asked all drivers in the city to please avoid certain lanes on the Marsha Sharp Freeway through Thursday. This comes after two major collisions occurred over the weekend that require investigation teams to have full access to the impact sites.
What Parts of Marsha Sharp Will Be Closed?
According to the Lubbock Police Department, two portions of the freeway will be shut down beginning 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5. LPD will shut down the 4600 block of the westbound lanes on the Marsha Sharp Freeway for about 45 minutes.
Investigations will continue to the eastbound lanes on the 1700 block of the freeway. Traffic will be diverted to Avenue Q and the access road during this time.
It’s highly advised that drivers avoid these areas, but if travel is required, LPD asks that citizens be vigilant and follow any and all directions from officers.
