LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A pleasant afternoon on the South Plains with a high of 67 degrees and top wind speed of 15 mph. Another nice day Monday with sunny skies and a high warming to near 80 degrees.
However, a strong upper-level system will bring some very strong winds to the South Plains on Tuesday into Wednesday. A High Wind Watch has been issued for portions of the region along with a Fire Weather Watch on Tuesday.
Winds over the central and western South Plains may gust as high as 60 mph on Tuesday with elevated fire danger. With temperatures around 80 degrees both Monday and Tuesday plants will dry and the fire danger will increase significantly for some areas.
