Two men pleaded guilty for shooting at a plain-clothes sheriff’s deputy they mistook for a rival gang member in August.
Devin Hernandez, 19, who has been held at the Lubbock County Detention Center since Aug. 28, 2025, was sentenced this month to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty in the 140th District Court to a second-degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison.
As part of his plea in state court, his federal charges connected to the shooting were dismissed…
